Ruckus Cloud is an AI-enabled network management platform that provides centralized control for converged wired and wireless networks. Integrating Spotipo's third-party captive portal with Ruckus Cloud adds email capture, social login, and paid WiFi access capabilities while leveraging Ruckus's enterprise-grade performance and management features.

This guide walks you through configuring Ruckus Cloud to work with Spotipo's WISPr authentication system. The setup involves creating a location in Spotipo, configuring a captive portal network in Ruckus Cloud, and setting up RADIUS authentication and accounting servers.

What you'll accomplish:

  • Create a Spotipo location configured for Ruckus Cloud

  • Configure a third-party captive portal (WISPr) network in Ruckus Cloud

  • Set up RADIUS authentication and accounting servers

  • Configure walled garden access for portal functionality

What you'll need:

  • Ruckus Cloud account with admin access

  • Ruckus Cloud access points deployed at your venue

  • Active Spotipo account (start free trial)

To create a new spotipo site, either follow a wizard if this is your first site, or add a new site by clicking on the site name in the bottom left and clicking the "Add a Site" button

Follow the instructions and choose your site type as "Ruckus Cloud"

Finish the setup by selecting the login type, etc.

After the location is created, navigate to Settings -> Ruckus Cloud. Here note down the settings

Now Login to your Ruckus Cloud account and navigate to Wireless Networks.

Use the Add Network option to create a new network.

Choose Captive Portal as the network type here.

And Portal Type as 3rd Part Captive Portal ( WiSPr)

Select Other Provider as the Portal Provider. Copy and paste the Captive Portal URL from Spotipo's dashboard here.

Now copy the Integration Key from Ruckus Cloud and paste that into Spotipo's Settings.

Remember to disable MAC auth Bypass.

In the walled garden box, enter app.spotipo.com as an entry.

If you want to enable payment logins enter the below domains as well.

js.stripe.com
api.stripe.com
q.stripe.com

Under the authentication service, fill in the primary and secondary server with values from Spotipo's dashboard.

Enable accounting services and fill in the same primary and secondary servers. Click Next

In the next screen choose the venues where you want to enable the portal on and save the settings.

Wait for few minutes and then connect a device to the newly created network. You should be able to see the landing page from Spotipo.

Your Ruckus Cloud Network Is Now Connected to Spotipo

Once you've configured the captive portal network in Ruckus Cloud and applied it to your venues, wait a few minutes for settings to propagate. Guests connecting to your newly created network will be redirected to Spotipo's landing page for authentication and you can start capturing guest data, running marketing campaigns, or offering paid WiFi access.

What to do next:

  • Test the captive portal by connecting a device to your configured network

  • Customize your splash page design in Spotipo dashboard to match your branding

  • Set up email marketing integrations to automatically sync guest contacts

Common Ruckus Cloud setup issues:

  • Portal not loading: Verify app.spotipo.com is in walled garden entries

  • Authentication failures: Ensure RADIUS server details match Spotipo dashboard exactly

  • Integration key error: Copy the integration key from Ruckus Cloud and paste it into Spotipo settings

  • MAC auth bypass enabled: Disable MAC auth bypass for proper captive portal authentication
