Ruckus Unleashed provides controller-less WiFi management for Ruckus access points, eliminating the need for separate controller hardware. Integrating Spotipo's captive portal with Ruckus Unleashed adds email capture, social login, and paid WiFi access capabilities while maintaining the simplicity and cost-effectiveness of the Unleashed architecture.
This guide walks you through creating a Ruckus Unleashed site in Spotipo, configuring hotspot services with RADIUS authentication, and enabling the hotspot on your WiFi network. The setup takes approximately 20-30 minutes.
What you'll accomplish:
Create a Ruckus Unleashed site in Spotipo and generate RADIUS credentials
Configure hotspot service with RADIUS authentication and accounting servers
Set up walled garden access for Spotipo and social login domains
Enable hotspot service on your Ruckus Unleashed WiFi network
What you'll need:
Ruckus Unleashed access points with admin access
Active Spotipo account (start free trial)
Knowledge of your desired WiFi network configuration
Create a Ruckus Unleashed Location
If not done already, create a Spotipo cloud site with type as Ruckus Unleashed.
Click on Switch Sites-> Add New Location, and add a location with type Ruckus Unleashed, provide a name and Save the configuration.
Add an unleashed network in Spotipo
Use Ruckus Unleashed option from the left navigation bar and click on New.
Gave any name to identify it later.
After adding, note down the NAS ID, Radius Secret and Location ID
Create Hotspot Service in Ruckus Unleashed
Login to your Ruckus Unleashed interface.
Under Services -> Hotspot Service, use the Create New option
Under General tab, provide a name for this hotspot configuration.
* Configure https://logme2wifi.com/ruckusunleashed/guest/ as Login page
* Configure https://logme2wifi.com/ruckusunleashed/postauth/ as Start Page
Under Authentication tab, add an authentication server with below settings
* Primary Radius Server Ip 34.77.150.10
* Secondary Radius Server IP 35.205.248.64
* Use the secret from Spotipo dashboard when you created the site for both Radius Servers.
Under Authentication tab, add an Accounting server with below settings
* Primary Radius Server IP 34.77.150.10
* Secondary Radius Server IP 35.205.248.64
* Use the secret from Spotipo dashboard when you created the site for both Radius Servers.
Other settings to be changed in authentication tab:
* Set the Interim Update time to 2 mins
* Configure Location ID and Location Name with location ID value from Spotipo dashboard
Under Walled Garden tab, add below domains
logme2wifi.com facebook.com akamaihd.netakamai.net edgecastcdn.net licdn.netcloudfront.net fbcdn.net
Enable Hotspot Service
Now from Wifi Networks Tab, double click on the desired Network Name to edit the configuration.
Set the usage type as hotspot service.
Select the hotspot service you have just created from the hotspot services dropdown menu.
If you have done all the steps correctly, you should be seeing the Spotipo landing page while connecting to WiFi. Please read through the other documentation on configuring different login types as well.
Your Ruckus Unleashed Hotspot Is Now Active
Once you've configured the hotspot service with RADIUS servers, walled garden settings, and enabled it on your WiFi network, guests connecting to your Ruckus Unleashed network will be redirected to Spotipo's landing page for authentication—and you can start capturing guest data, running marketing campaigns, or offering paid WiFi access.
What to do next:
Test the captive portal by connecting a device to your configured WiFi network
Customize your splash page design in Spotipo dashboard to match your branding
Set up email marketing integrations to automatically sync guest contacts
Common Ruckus Unleashed setup issues:
Portal not loading: Verify all walled garden domains are added (logme2wifi.com, facebook.com, fbcdn.net)
Authentication failures: Ensure RADIUS secret matches Spotipo credentials exactly (case-sensitive)
Location ID mismatch: Confirm Location ID and Location Name both use the value from Spotipo dashboard
Accounting not working: Check that interim update time is set to 2 minutes
