Meraki access points support custom RADIUS authentication, allowing you to deploy Spotipo's captive portal on your existing Meraki network without firmware changes or hardware additions. This integration enables email capture, social login, and paid WiFi access while maintaining Meraki's cloud management capabilities.

This guide walks you through creating a Meraki site in Spotipo, configuring custom-hosted splash pages, setting up RADIUS servers, and configuring walled garden access for seamless authentication.

What you'll accomplish:

  • Create a Meraki site in Spotipo and generate RADIUS credentials

  • Configure custom-hosted splash page in Meraki dashboard

  • Set up RADIUS authentication and accounting servers

  • Configure walled garden for Spotipo and optional payment/social login domains

What you'll need:

  • Meraki access points with active license

  • Admin access to Meraki dashboard

  • Active Spotipo account (start free trial)

You can use Spotipo as a custom Radius server on your Meraki network. This allows using your existing Meraki network to deploy a hotspot without the need to have any firmware changes.

Add a Meraki Site

To add the Meraki Site, give your site a name, and select the router type. Since Meraki router doesn't show right away, on the Router page, select "See more routers" option.

Then select the Meraki router option.

ce that is selected, choose your preferred login methods and move on to the router configuration part.

After creating the site, navigate to Settings -> Meraki Aps. Here you can see the Radius details and the splash page URL for configuring your Meraki network.

Enable a Custom-Hosted Splash page on the Meraki Cloud.

Now Go to the Meraki dashboard and select your network; then navigate to Wireless-> Access control.

In the SSID drop-down menu, choose the SSID you want to configure.

Under the splash page section, choose the splash page method as "Sign-On with " and select the "my Radius server" option.

Configure Walled Garden

Under advanced splash settings, enable Walled garden and add the below entry

app.spotipo.com

If you are using a white-labeled domain, add that as well.

Optionally add the below domains if you want to deploy payment gated hotspot with Stripe.

js.stripe.com
api.stripe.com
q.stripe.com

Or if you want to use Login with Facebook

facebook.com
akamaihd.netakamai.net
edgecastcdn.net
facebook.net
akamaihd.net
fbcdn.net
atdmt.com
fbsbx.com

Configure Radius Server Details

Click the Add server button under RADIUS servers and

  • use the Primary Radius Server Ip from the Spotipo dashboard as the HostIP

  • Use 1812 as the port

  • Use the secret from the Spotipo dashboard as the Secret

Do the steps again for adding a secondary radius server

Configure RADIUS accounting servers

If you don't have this option in your dashboard, don't hesitate to contact Meraki support to enable it.

  • use the Primary Radius Server Ip from the Spotipo dashboard as the HostIP

  • Use 1813 as the port

  • Use the secret from the Spotipo dashboard as the Secret

Disable Radius Testing

Make sure to disable Radius Testing option in the dashboard, or else you would receive warnings about Radius servers not being reachable by Meraki servers.

Configure Splash page

Go to Wireless -> Splash page and choose the SSID you want to deploy the hotspot on.

Select the Custom splash page URL and copy-paste the Splash URL from spotipo dashboard.

Under Splash Behavior, for the Where should users go after the splash page, select the option as "The URL they were trying to fetch"

If everything is configured correctly, you should be able to see the Spotipo landing page when connecting to the Guest WiFi network.

Meraki Captive Portal Active

After configuring the custom splash page, RADIUS servers, and walled garden settings in your Meraki dashboard, guests connecting to your WiFi will be redirected to Spotipo's landing page for authentication.

What to do next:

  • Test the captive portal by connecting a device to your configured SSID

  • Customize your splash page design in Spotipo dashboard

  • Set up email marketing integrations to sync guest contacts

Critical configuration notes:

  • Disable RADIUS testing to avoid false warnings about server reachability

  • Enable RADIUS accounting (contact Meraki support if option is unavailable)

  • Set splash behavior to redirect users to "The URL they were trying to fetch"
