Zyxel Nebula provides cloud-based management for Zyxel access points, offering centralized control for wireless networks. Integrating Spotipo's captive portal with your Zyxel Nebula controller adds email capture, social login, and paid WiFi access capabilities while leveraging Nebula's cloud management convenience.
This guide walks you through configuring Zyxel Nebula to work with Spotipo's external captive portal using RADIUS authentication. The setup involves creating a site in Spotipo, configuring RADIUS servers in Nebula Cloud, and setting up walled garden access for seamless guest authentication.
What you'll accomplish:
Create a Zyxel Nebula site in Spotipo and generate RADIUS credentials
Configure RADIUS authentication and accounting servers in Nebula Cloud
Set up walled garden access for Spotipo and social login domains
Enable guest network and external captive portal settings
What you'll need:
Zyxel Nebula account with admin access
Zyxel access points managed through Nebula Cloud
Active Spotipo account (start free trial)
Add a Zyxel Nebula Site
If you still need to do so, please create a Site with Zyxel as the WiFi router.
Find configuration details in Spotipo
Navigate to the Zyxel APs option under Settings -> Zyxel Nebula Config.
You will be presented with Portal URLs, NAS identity and Radius Secret. Please note it all down.
Configure SSID Authentication in Nebula Cloud
Navigate to SSID advanced settings in Nebula Cloud. And select the SSID you wish to use with Spotipo.
Select Sign in the method as Sign On With My Radius Server
Use 35.205.248.64 and 34.140.222.95 as IP of first and second-radius servers, respectively
Use 1812 as the port number and use the secret generated in the previous step
Configure the NAS identifier with the value created in the previous step.
Enable accounting and fill the radius server values as 34.77.150.10 and 35.205.248.64
Use 1813 as the port number
Configure Walled Garden
Enable the Walled garden range and enter the below values
logme2wifi.com app.spotipo.com *.facebook.com *.fbcdn.com www.facebook.com
Enable Guest Network
In the SSID overview page, enable Guest Network Setting. Remember to press Save.
Configure Captive Portal Settings
Navigate to the Captive Portal Settings page in the Nebula cloud.
Enable use URL in External Portal Setting
Use URL generated in the Spotipo settings under "External Captive Portal URL" settings
Change Captive portal Behaviour as "To promotion URL" and use the "Redirect URL" genereated in Spotipo as the URL.
Save and test
Save the settings and wait a few minutes for it to be active. After that, try to connect a device to Guest SSID, and you should see the splash page.
Your Zyxel Nebula Captive Portal Is Now Active
Once you've configured RADIUS servers, walled garden settings, and captive portal behavior in Nebula Cloud, wait a few minutes for settings to propagate to your access points. Guests connecting to your guest SSID will be redirected to Spotipo's splash page for authentication—and you can start capturing guest data, running marketing campaigns, or offering paid WiFi access.
What to do next:
Test the captive portal by connecting a device to your guest SSID
Customize your splash page design in Spotipo dashboard to match your branding
Set up email marketing integrations to automatically sync guest contacts
Common Zyxel Nebula setup issues:
Portal not loading: Verify all walled garden domains are entered correctly (logme2wifi.com, app.spotipo.com, Facebook domains)
Authentication failures: Ensure RADIUS secret and NAS identifier match Spotipo settings exactly (case-sensitive)
Settings not active: Wait 2-5 minutes after saving for the configuration to propagate to access points
Social login not working: Confirm Facebook domains (*.facebook.com, *.fbcdn.com) are in the walled garden
