Aruba Central provides cloud-based WiFi management for Aruba Instant Access Points, and integrating Spotipo's captive portal adds powerful guest WiFi capabilities including email capture, social login, and paid access options. This integration uses Aruba's external splash page authentication with RADIUS to manage guest access across all your Aruba APs.

This guide walks you through configuring Aruba Central to work with Spotipo's cloud authentication system. The setup involves creating a guest SSID, configuring a captive portal profile, and setting up RADIUS authentication servers for seamless guest management.

What you'll accomplish:

  • Create an Aruba Central site in Spotipo and generate authentication credentials

  • Configure external splash page authentication on Aruba Central

  • Set up RADIUS authentication and accounting servers

  • Enable domain access control (ACL) for portal functionality

What you'll need:

  • Aruba Central account with admin access

  • Aruba Instant Access Points connected to Central

  • Active Spotipo account (start free trial)

Important: Walled garden settings vary by firmware version. This guide uses access rules for the most reliable experience across all Aruba Central deployments.

Add an Aruba Central Site in Spotipo

While creating a site, make sure to select the Aruba Central/Aruba IAP as your router type.

Add a Network

In the newly created site, navigate to Settings Aruba Central/Aruba IAP config.

Make sure to remember and use all of the data shown.

Configure Aruba IAP

Connect to Aruba Central portal, select the desired location, navigate to WLANs and add a new SSID.

Enter the SSID you would like to have and keep the network type as Guest

In the security tab, select splash-page type as external and add a new captive portal profile. Make sure that security level is set to "Visitors".

Port: 443
Use HTTPs: Enabled

Next add a new authentication (Primary) server by providing

IP Address: 34.140.222.95
Shared Key: Generated in previous step
NAS Identifier: Generated in previous step

Set accounting mode to authentication and use 2 min as Accounting Interval

Enable Domain ACL for all the for all the required domains

Walled garden settings are not available on all firmware versions, so we recommend using access rules for the most reliable experience for everyone.

Save And Test

Click Finish and Save the configuration. Wait for a few minutes and then connect to the SSID you have just created to test it out.

Your Aruba Central Captive Portal Is Now Live

Once your configuration is complete and the splash page appears when connecting to your guest SSID, you can start capturing WiFi guest data, running marketing campaigns, or offering paid WiFi access through your Aruba Central network.

What to do next:

  • Customize your splash page design in Spotipo dashboard to match your branding

  • Set up email marketing integrations to automatically sync guest contacts

  • Configure paid WiFi packages to generate revenue from premium access

Common Aruba Central setup issues:

  • Portal not loading: Verify Domain ACL is enabled for all required domains (app.spotipo.com and authentication domains)

  • Authentication failures: Ensure RADIUS shared key matches exactly between Spotipo and Aruba Central (case-sensitive)

  • Accounting not working: Check that accounting mode is set to "authentication" with a 2-minute interval

  • Security level error: Confirm security level is set to "Visitors" in the security tab
