Gateway API provides reliable SMS delivery with global coverage and strong API infrastructure. Configuring Gateway API as your SMS gateway in Spotipo enables phone number authentication, OTP verification, and SMS-based account notifications for your guest WiFi with industry-leading delivery rates.
This guide walks you through retrieving your Gateway API credentials, purchasing a phone number for sender ID, and configuring the gateway in Spotipo.
What you'll accomplish:
Retrieve Account SID and Auth Token from Gateway API site
Purchase or identify a Gateway API phone number as sender ID
Configure Gateway API gateway credentials in Spotipo
Test SMS delivery to verify configuration
What you'll need:
Active Gateway API account with billing configured
At least one purchased Gateway API phone number (required for sending SMS)
Spotipo account with admin access
Phone number for testing SMS delivery
Get Gateway API credentials
First login to your Gateway API to retrieve Account SID and Auth Token. Once logged in, go to API->API Keys and Generate Key / Token.
This will show you a set of credentials which will be necessary for integration with Spotipo. You will need to remember the Key and Secret fields. The token field isn't necessary to configure.
Once you have that information, you need to find your number that you're going to use. To do that, in GatewayAPI, find the number in Subscriptions->Keywords/Numbers section.
Once you have all of that information, it is time to move over to Spotipo.
Find the SMS gateway configuration under Settings->General->SMS Gateway. Make sure to select the type of SMS Gateway as Gateway API.
Then under Sender ID place the phone number shortcode from the Gateway API, under Key, use the Key and under Secret, use the Secret.
Your final setup should look something like this.
Test the configuration by Clicking on Test SMS and enter a phone number to send a test SMS.
GatewayAPI SMS Gateway Configured
After entering your Account SID, Auth Token, and sender ID (purchased phone number), Spotipo can send SMS messages through GatewayAPI. Test the configuration by sending a test SMS to verify delivery before enabling phone-based authentication.
What to do next:
Send test SMS to verify configuration works
Enable Phone Number Login or OTP verification on your splash page
Monitor SMS usage in GatewayAPI console to track costs
