Email domain verification prevents guests from entering fake or mistyped email addresses by validating that the domain exists and has proper email infrastructure. This feature reduces invalid entries like "[email protected]" or "noemail@gmail" while allowing legitimate addresses through, improving your email list quality without adding friction to the login process.
This guide shows you how to enable email domain verification in Spotipo's general settings. Once activated, the system automatically validates email domains in real-time and displays errors for invalid entries.
What you'll accomplish:
Enable automatic email domain validation
Reduce fake and mistyped email addresses in your guest data
Improve email list quality for marketing campaigns
Block obviously invalid domains while allowing legitimate addresses
What you'll need:
Active Spotipo account with email login configured
Understanding that this validates domain existence, not individual email addresses
How it works: Spotipo checks if the email domain exists and has valid MX (mail exchange) records. It doesn't verify if the specific email address exists, but it blocks completely fake domains.
Set Up
While on your site, navigate to Settings -> General and turn on the Verify Email's domain.
Once enabled, spotipo will validate the email address and show an error.
Spotipo validates if a domain exists and has a valid MX record. It doesn't validate if this email address exists.
Email Domain Verification Is Now Active
Once enabled, guests entering email addresses without valid domains will see an error message and must correct their entry before accessing WiFi. This reduces fake emails in your database without requiring additional verification steps.
What to do next:
Test the feature by attempting to enter an invalid email domain
Monitor email bounce rates to measure improvement in data quality
Consider combining with email verification for maximum list quality
Validation limitations:
Validates domain existence, not individual email addresses
Won't catch typos in valid domains (gmail.con instead of gmail.com)
Doesn't prevent disposable email services with valid domains
