This feature is available on the Advanced Plan only
Pre-paid WiFi access allows guests to purchase internet packages before arriving at your location, eliminating wait times and streamlining the check-in experience. By sharing a pre-pay portal link, customers can browse packages, complete payment, and create credentials from home—then simply log in when they arrive to activate their purchased access.
This guide shows you how to enable and share Spotipo's pre-pay portal, allowing customers to purchase WiFi packages in advance. The feature is ideal for hotels, vacation rentals, event venues, and coworking spaces where guests prefer to handle payment before arrival.
What you'll accomplish:
Find and share your pre-pay portal link with customers
Enable customers to purchase WiFi packages before arriving
Allow guests to activate pre-purchased access on arrival
Streamline check-in by eliminating payment delays
What you'll need:
Spotipo Advanced Plan (pre-pay feature available on Advanced Plan only)
Payment login enabled with configured WiFi packages
Pre-pay portal link from Spotipo settings
How it works: Customers purchase packages and create credentials through the pre-pay link. Packages don't activate until guests connect to your WiFi and log in with their pre-paid credentials, ensuring time-based access starts when they actually arrive.
If you have a paid WiFi on your sites, it can take a while for customers to set things up. So why not allow them to do it at the comfort of their own home, right?
That is exactly what the Prepay portal will allow you to do. You can simply share this link with the customers and they'll be able to purchase WiFi access before the need to actually use it.
How to use the feature?
To use the PrePay portal, you will have to find the link that you can share with your customers. You can find that under Settings->Payment login->Links
There you will see links for both Customer and Prepay portal. The link that you need is at Prepay portal. Simply copy the link and share it with a customer that would like to purchase their WiFi early.
Once users access the link, they will be prompted with your Spotipo portal. From there, they can select a package that suits them best and finish a purchase by entering their card details and creating an account using email and password.
When does the purchased package activate?
If a user purchases WiFi through this link, the package won't start running out until the users signs in on the captive portal on your guest WiFi network.
How does the user Sign in to WiFi portal?
When user finally arrives on location, they can simply connect to your WiFi network using Spotipo. Then on the next step, they need to select the Already Paid option (Or similar if you renamed it).
Once they select that, they'll be prompted to log in. There they need to enter the same credentials they did when creating the account during PrePay process (same email and password).
Pre-Pay WiFi Portal Now Active
Once you've shared the pre-pay portal link with customers, they can purchase WiFi packages in advance and activate them upon arrival by logging in with their credentials. This eliminates payment friction during check-in and improves the guest experience.
What to do next:
Add pre-pay portal link to confirmation emails or booking confirmations
Include QR code to pre-pay portal in pre-arrival communications
Train staff on helping guests activate pre-paid access
Monitor pre-purchase rates to optimize package pricing
Common pre-pay questions:
When does time start? Only when guest logs in on-site, not at purchase
Can guests change packages? They can purchase additional packages anytime
What if credentials are forgotten? Use password recovery via customer portal
Distribution strategies: Share your pre-pay portal link via email confirmations, booking platforms, SMS reminders, or QR codes in pre-arrival materials. The easier you make pre-payment, the smoother your check-in process becomes.
