Ruijie routers and gateways deliver enterprise-grade networking at competitive prices, making them popular for businesses across hospitality, retail, and education. By integrating Spotipo's cloud captive portal with your Ruijie network, you can transform basic guest WiFi into a marketing and revenue-generating platform—collecting customer emails, offering social login, and enabling paid WiFi access.

This guide walks you through the complete Ruijie captive portal setup process using Spotipo's external authentication system. The configuration takes approximately 20-30 minutes and works with Ruijie gateways and routers running recent firmware versions.

What you'll accomplish:

  • Configure Ruijie external captive portal with RADIUS authentication

  • Connect your Ruijie gateway to Spotipo's cloud platform

  • Set up guest WiFi with email capture and social login options

  • Enable QoS for bandwidth management and speed limits

What you'll need:

  • Ruijie router or gateway (AP-only setups are not supported)

  • Admin access to your Ruijie device

  • Active Spotipo account (start free trial)

Important requirement: Spotipo requires a Ruijie router or gateway to function properly. Ruijie access points alone cannot handle the external captive portal authentication—you must have a Ruijie gateway in your network.

Setting up a captive portal on Ruijie routers has never been easier with Spotipo's cloud-based solution. This step-by-step guide shows you how to configure your Ruijie captive portal to collect customer data, manage guest access, and transform your WiFi network into a powerful marketing tool.

Ruijie routers are popular choices for businesses needing reliable networking solutions, and when combined with Spotipo's advanced captive portal software, they create a seamless guest WiFi experience. Whether you're running a café, hotel, or retail location, this Ruijie Spotipo integration will help you maximize your guest WiFi's potential.

By following this Ruijie hotspot setup guide, you'll learn how to configure the necessary settings, install required packages, and connect your router to Spotipo's marketing platform. The entire process takes just a few minutes and requires no advanced technical knowledge.

NOTE: It is necessary to use Ruijie router/gateway for Spotipo to work properly. You cannot use Ruijie APs only!

Create Ruijie Site in Spotipo

A Site represents each location. A site can have multiple routers (of the same type)

Go to Site Selector on the top right corner and use the Create A New location button. Select the device type as Ruijie.

Find Ruijie Settings in Spotipo

Once your site has been created, locate the Ruijie Config screen under settings. Here you will be presented with configuration details necessary to configure your Ruijie router with Spotipo.

Configure Ruijie Router

On your Ruijie router, go to Network Wide->Network and create a new network (VLAN) that you'd like to use with the Spotipo guest portal if you haven't already done so. This will create the safest and most isolated environment, so it is a recommendation, but it is not a requirement if you prefer to use the same network for everything.

Once you create a VLAN, specifiy which Interfaces you'd like to use this network according to your preferences (especially important for Captive portals on the LAN/wired interfaces).

*Example of creating the VLAN on only one Wired interface. If you plan on using wireless captive portal, use a different type of Network.

Configure Captive portal Settings

Next, go to Auth & Accounts->Captive portal. Edit the default portal. Set the following parameters.

  • Policy mode: External

  • Authentication device: Ruijie Gateway

  • Auth protocol: Default (WISPr)

  • Select Network: The newtork that you've created in the previous step

  • Auth Server URL: Copy from Authentication Portal field in Spotipo

  • Auth Type: RADIUS

  • Radius encryption method: PAP

  • Auth Server Group: Create new one

  • Accounting Server Group: Create new one

Creating the Server Groups

Since you need to creat the server group, you can do so by clicking the edit button in the Auth & Accounts->Captive portal under Auth Server Group section.

From there, add a server group, name it whatever you'd like and use the following paramteres:

Use the details generated in your Spotipo site settings.

Make sure to apply the created Server Group to Auth Server Group and Accounting Server Group in Captive Portal Settings

Configuring the Allow list

Next, go to Auth & Accounts -> Allow List from there, add the following:

Mandatory

app.spotipo.com
107.178.247.148

Optional: Payment login

q.stripe.com
js.stripe.com
api.stripe.com

Optional: Facebook login

facebook.com
akamaihd.netakamai.net
edgecastcdn.net
facebook.net
akamaihd.net
fbcdn.net
atdmt.com
fbsbx.com

Once this is done, the portal should work. However, we are not done yet, as we want the speed limits to work, so there are a few additional settings.

Adding the support for speed limits

To support the speed limits, we need to enable QoS. To do that, connect directly to the Device's local IP address if you haven't already. If you can only use Cloud platform, then you can create a tunnel from Cloud directly to Gateway. To do that, go to Devices, mark your gateway and select the eWeb option. After that, click on the Create Tunnel button. This will open up the UI of the gateway only.

From there, go to Gateway->Behavior->QoS . You can leave the speed limit on at default, as you'll be limiting to a lower value through our UI anyway.

The only thing left to do is Verify the changes and turn of the Client Escape option under Gateway->Web Authentication .

This will prevent issues of users managing to bypass authentication server in some cases.

Test Things out

All that is left to do now is to test the captive portal out.

Your Ruijie Captive Portal Is Ready

Once your captive portal loads correctly, guests will authenticate seamlessly—and you can start capturing WiFi guest data, running marketing campaigns, or offering paid WiFi access through your Ruijie network.
