Mailrelay integration automatically exports guest WiFi data to your email marketing groups, enabling immediate campaigns to visitors with support for custom fields like phone numbers, birth dates, and demographics. Every guest who connects to your WiFi is automatically added as a subscriber in Mailrelay with configurable custom data mapping.

This guide walks you through configuring Mailrelay integration in Spotipo, setting up group IDs, generating API keys, and mapping custom fields for advanced data synchronization.

What you'll accomplish:

  • Configure Mailrelay control panel address and API key

  • Select target groups for guest subscribers

  • Map custom fields (phone, DOB, gender) to Mailrelay

  • Enable automatic guest data export with custom data

What you'll need:

  • Spotipo Plus or Premium plan (integrations available on these plans only)

  • Active Mailrelay account with control panel access

  • Mailrelay groups created for WiFi guests

  • Custom fields created in Mailrelay if using advanced data mapping

Configuring automatic data export to Mailrelay

Go to the Location you want to configure data export for by clicking on the drop-down menu in top right corner.

Once in the location, go to Integrations by clicking the tab on left, and click on MailRelay->Connect

Enter the details in the configuration window which is displayed.

You can optionally enable sending custom data to be sent to mailrelay

Don’t forget to Save the settings and click Finish once you are done.

Mail Relay Address

Provide your Control panel address of Mail relay. This will be https://yourdomain.ipzmarketing.com

Group IDs

Groups to which you want new subscribers to be added. Find group id by going to Mail relay Subscribers-> Groups in the dropdown menu.

Create a new group if you want and give its ID in Spotipo. You can provide multiple group ids separated by a comma in Spotipo.

API Key

You can generate an API key by going to Settings->API keys and adding a new key.

Custom data
Spotipo supports sending custom data to mail relay.

Go to Settings->Custom fields in Mail relay control panel and create needed custom fields before enabling it on Spotipo (Spotipo supports sending of phone number, DOB(date of birth), details, and gender of guest to Mail relay).

In the data template, cthe ustom field data should match

“f_” :

For example if you have created a custom field ‘phone’ in Mail relay control panel and its id in Mailrelay control panel is 2, corresponding key: value pair in template should be:

{“f_2”:“##{{phonenumber}}”}

If you want to send a few fields and don't want to send others, remove unwanted key: value pairs from default data template like below:

{“f_1”:“##{{phonenumber}}”,“f_2”:“##{{dob}}”}

Once all the configurations are saved, details of any new guest (Name, Email, and custom data if custom data is enabled) will be auto-uploaded to Mailrelay.

Mailrelay Integration Active

After configuring control panel address, API key, group IDs, and custom field mapping, guests connecting to your WiFi are automatically added to your Mailrelay groups. You can now create email campaigns targeting WiFi visitors with rich subscriber data.

What to do next:

  • Test integration by connecting a device and verifying subscriber appears in Mailrelay

  • Create welcome email campaigns for new WiFi subscribers

  • Use custom field data for advanced segmentation

Custom field mapping: Create custom fields in Mailrelay (Settings → Custom fields) before enabling custom data in Spotipo. Field IDs must match the format f_X where X is the Mailrelay field ID.
